    Itchy dog

Apoquel was a godsend - have just put August on maintenance dosage and can see itching and nibbling again - so looks like it will be back to vet next week and see what he says. (Btw I found online pharmacy very easy and efficient service 😀)

    Skin issues again

August is on Apoquel - it was double dose for 2 weeks and the itching cleared up - she is on her 3rd day of maintenance dosage and I can see she is starting to itch again - not as fervently as before but it has increased. I will watch her for rest of week and take her back to the vet if this...

What is your trick to clip nails of your dogs?

I am too much of a wimp to do it myself and have it done at the vet 🤷‍♀️

    Itchy dog

Had august at vet this afternoon and he has prescribed Apoquel as he thinks seasonal allergies and piriton not strong enough. He said to get them online so now I have to find an online dispenser - anyone have any suggestions as don’t want to have to go through all of the ones on google 😀

    Harness for greyhound.

I don’t have a greyhound but really wanted (still do 😀) an Italian greyhound and did a bit of research about their needs. I would recommend checking with greyhound specific websites and chat groups as I know they do need different collars and perhaps also harnesses to more robust dogs 😀 I am so...

Getting a dog and working hours

Are you able to get someone to share a dog with you? 10 hours shifts are really too long to leave any breed on their own in my opinion- and you don’t say what your commute time is. So even having a dog walker come in for an hour a day would be very long periods for them to be alone and could...

    Rocket in leafy salads.

Rocket lover here - we grow it on the windowsill. I’d rather have a bowl of rocket than a packet of crisps or biscuits 😀

    The Dog Cafe

I had to look up equafleece 🤣 I struggle to convince august that her harness is a good thing so the equafleece doesn’t stand a chance 😀

How do you pick the right breed?

We had a cocker spaniel when I was a kid - she was very posh - Lady May of Piperspool 😀 we inherited from my grandparents when my grandfather got ill and I can say with sadness that my mom didn’t treat her very well although she really was a lovely old girl. Maybe one day I will get a cocker in...

QUERY: New puppy 1 undescended testicle

I am sorry that you had to make this decision and the breeder was not helpful with resolving the issue with you as it was obvious that you did your research and tried to get them to meet you at least half way. I am sure you will find another perfect addition to your family x

She is lovely - welcome 😀

How do you pick the right breed?

Golden Retrievers Are good first dog for new ‘owners’ - the do need a lot of time and can’t be left alone for long periods. They also need a lot of exercise and mental stimulation. If you have those to offer a golden retriever would be great. I don’t have any experience of field spaniels so...

    Spaying disharmony

My daughter is 27 and is saving to buy a property which will be about 4ish years away. - unless she has to relocate for work 😀 we shared august from the start - however since she has been saving for a property she wanted to take Kiki (my cat) and august stay with me as she wouldn’t cope with...

    Spaying disharmony

My daughter and I have a big difference of opinion about spaying August - the discussion has resurfaced as august has just started her second season. I know taking her for walks needs us to be constantly vigilant and I am happy to take over all of this as I am quite positive I don’t want august...

    Itchy dog

Thanks for your responses 😀 hopefully I can get this resolved soon as vet nurse said no obvious injury to paws and that she must be licking more often and to keep and eye on it

    Itchy dog

I was wondering if it could be a seasonal allergy- her paws are pink now from the iron in her saliva lol looks pretty enough but I don’t want her to itch 😀

    Itchy dog

August has had increased itching over past weeks - started with paws and seems to be going higher now. No fleas - anyone have any supplements they can recommend for allergies?

    New Puppy!

Congratulations 😀 I don’t believe in do’s and don’ts other than getting them to settle in happily and works for your family. When I brought my lab home at 8 weeks, I took 2 weeks off work even though I mostly work from home. We had a crate inside a very large puppy pen in the dining room and I...
