Hi everyone. We've got an 8yo female staffy, she's just been diagnosed with GERD. A few days before diagnosis she stopped eating. Vet gave her anti sickness injection and a steroid injection to stimulate her appetite on Friday. Its now Monday and we've had her back to the vets as she's still not eating. They administered the same two injections and took bloods. Its been over a week since she's had anything proper to eat. She's drinking as normal, enjoying walks, looks well apart from weight loss just withdrawn a bit. Just wondering if anyone has experienced the same or can offer advice on getting her to eat (we've tried everything)

No advice, but I didn't want to read and run.

I hope you find something that helps.

Is she on a special low-fat diet now? This would of course limit what you can give her to tempt her appetite. Will she take treats, or is she refusing them too?

One way to spice up food is to mix it with a warm stock/gravy/broth. I made this by boiling chicken carcasses and then draining them (the meat then gets used for treats, but never feed the bones as cooked bones are dangerous), but you could use any sort of meat and also add vegetables.

We've been told different things about what to feed her. But our preference is a low fat better quality food. She's point blank refusing everything, even chicken that she absolutely loves. We tried stock, the vet sent us away with a drink that's essentially chicken stock that she again refused. She was fussy before. She acts like she's scared of food so I don't think it's physical, more psychological. Thank you for your replys
