 omg i am still shaking :(

just taken the kids to a club they go to on a thursday night , i always walk them up with the dogs as its close to home , dropped them off and just started to walk back down the hill to come home and a house door was opend and a large white staffy flew out and across the road to me and the dogs :(

it went straight for Jan , just before its teeth made contact with her my foot made contact with its head :- " it came for her again and i kicked it again , it came back a 3rd time and again i gave it a good boot

all this time the owner is stood at her door telling her 12 / 14 yr old son to get the dog then i told her what i thought of her :- " and she had the cheeck to say she was just taking it round the side of her house

i told er i didnt dive a f~~k where she was taking it , it was dangerouse and should be on a lead

thank god for my quick and violent :b reactions , luckily Jan is unharmed but it has really shaken us both up :sweating:

Bliss for once in her life had the common sense to stay behind me quietly

must say BOTH of my dogs were on leads as it was on a road and the staffy flew across the road to mine .

now i wont walk the dogs with the kids as im scared it will happen again and there is no other way for me to walk to it as this house is 4 / 5 doors away from the church the club is held in :(

i will be on the phone to the police and dog warden first thing , this could have been a child !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Oh god how aweful Sharon for you and the kids...  Im not a lover of staffys after my Chip was attacked in 2000 ....not the dogs faults though....bloody owners

Honestly it makes me sick that people have to be scared to walk past or go for certain walks in fear of meeting stupid irresponsible owners and their dogs like this.

Glad you used your head(or your boot in this case) and no-one got hurt this time... :huggles:

i agree its not the dogs fault , irrisponsible owners not socialising there dogs properly

edited to say luckily the kids didnt see it and were inside the church by this time

trouble is with some folks though...they have them like status symbols....to look hard...  no training with them whatsoever...

so glad your kids didnt see any of this, its s horrible experience even for an adult....I have nightmares sometimes about the attack Chip had and its 7 years down the line now...he had 4 ribs wired together afterwards and a punctured lung and 17 stitches... :( :( Ill never forget it as long as I live..

Im sorry I dont want to offend any staffy lovers, but it took me ages to even pass one again without feeling panic set in...

i walked up with a friend and she couldnt believe it had happend and how i protected my girls , i just wish it didnt have to be like this :(

thankfully THIS time no harm was done but just think of your poor boy :( and others , something has to be done , i feel sorry for the dogs as they dont choose to be born and if they are not brought up right its them and there victims that suffer not the bloody owners

sorry to hear this sharon. I know it makes you so angry doesnt it  had similar things happen to us, some people just havent got any dog -sense at all

Hope you and jan are feeling a little better now and that Jan forgets about it :luck: :huggles:

That sounds awful - no wonder you were still shaking for so long. :( A similar thing happened to Muffin though not with a Staffy. We were walking up a narrow alley and 2 GSD's dashed out of the house and jumped on him barking and growling. And the owner said they wouldn't hurt him! As it happens they didn't appear to be going in with their teeth but it really shook me up and he did have a slight cut on his leg. Poor old Muffin pulls like anything when we go past now and I'm still nervous as well. I remember carrying on with my walk trying not to burst into tears I was so shocked.

Glad you are all OK. :sweating:

i cant see how hard it is to be a responsible dog owner , its not hard to keep your gate shut and dogs on a lead .

so many stories are told on here and this site is just a little fish in the ocean , there are too many attcks on kids / dogs but no one apart from the victims of these attacks seem to care :(

I wish they would bring back dog licences and make anyone who owns a dog attend a good citizen course. Then poeple would be educated on how to look after a dog and hav no excuses for not looking after their dog properly. Dogs are only as good as their owners (I know some dogs have problems but responsible owners minmise risks and work to improve the problem).

HOw awful - staffords are absolutely vile. I have had one italian attacked by one while he was on his lead - luckily he had such an outgoing temperament he was completely unfazed!!!! - unbelievable

A few months ago, I was walking 3 12 week Italian Puppies up the lane in my village towards the fields, when a staffie flew out of a gate and went for the puppies - completely unporcvoked and again they were on their leads. It didnt get the chance to get them, but the puppies were territfied and are still generally quite nervous at 8 months old.

These dogs are dreadful - IMo they should be banned altogether. The can get out from tehir homes as in these cases and therefore even saying they hacve to be muzzled in a public place woudlnt work. I know of a great deal of Italian owners who have had similar experiences and nearly alwatys with staffies. Staffies appear to absolutely loathe other dogs.

I know of another instance where a yorkshire terrier was sniffing at the bottom ot the fence of its own garden when a staffie passing by outside the fence got it by the muzzle, dragged it under the fence and killed it.

They are just not safe at all.

how scary for you and bliss  ,glad your both unharmed :sweating: ,i dont blame you not wanting to walk that way again :( ,hope you get some support from the authorities

Trouble is in my opinion the licence fee wasnt enough really....it ended up being a waste of time.

I agree with some sort of dog course though...

even the price of dogs dosnt put people of getting them now...they seem to find the money somehow..

IMO certain breeds of dog should only be available, if the perspective owner is licensed to own one.

Hope your ok, sharron, we've been attacked before not by a staffy but it is frightening.

Even after my experiences with them....and aweful ones at that...I dont think the dogs should be banned. Maybe some of the owners yes...

I have built my trust up with some of them....only some...

there is currently one in the village, hes a full blown DOG too and strangely enough he didnt have the best start in life and now hes really soft and ....my dogs get on with him  so its helped me to get over what happened.....so No I dont tar them all with the same brush

' staffords are absolutely vile' and 'these dogs are dreadful' sorry, but i think this is a ridiculous sweeping statement to make  Yes, dogs such as staffies can be dangerous in the wrong hands, more so than other breeds but to say what you have is very harsh IMO. No bad dogs - just bad owners i say! ;)

Maybe they could link the licence with the course? That way everyone would be registered and it would be easier to track who had attended.

Poor you Sharon well done for quick thinking, these are powerful dogs and should be under control at all times.

I had 2 loose german shepherds attack my whippets once, the youngsters got away but one of them bit my old girl she never really recovered and i had her PTS a few months later

It made me too afraid to walk anywhere local again in case i met these dogs

I do feel its the owners to blame and can be any breed but as we all know staffies are to be avoided at all costs!!!! Jan x

I had the same thing happen to me when I went out for a walk and someone came to the front door of a neighbours house the wretched thing flew out and took a huge bite out of my dog.

The only thing I can suggest is if the people rent the house you could complain to the landlords as permission to keep a dog there might be withdrawn.
